Under the Shadow, Children of the First Star: Volume I
Jason had never considered himself to be lucky. Between the strange, untimely death of his father, and being forced to leave his friends and life in Chicago for the small town of Ashton with his mom, the last thing the bored and lonely thirteen-year-old could have imagined was being the one human selected for study by a universe archivist of the mighty and ancient beings, the Shantar Anar. His excitement is short-lived, however, as his entire encounter with the archivist is blocked from his memory, and he is returned unawares to his boring life. But when Jason overcomes the memory block and seeks out the archivist with his diminutive and nervous classmate Daniel, the two boys are accidentally abducted and must travel with the archivist to Ranis Anjiran, a planet of its own abundant secrets. They can only hope it is in the Interest of the Shantar Anar to send them home. What will be left in Ashton for them upon return is another question, as the boys assumed kidnapping sparks old hatreds and ultimately brings the mystery of Jason’s father’s death to the surface once again.
